This Mishnah describes how a blessing made before eating a meal can exempt a blessing that needs to be said after the meal.

בֵּרַךְ עַל הַיַּיִן

שֶׁלִּפְנֵי הַמָּזוֹן,

פָּטַר אֶת הַיַּיִן

שֶׁלְּאַחַר הַמָּזוֹן.
