According to Wikipedia, Hadad was a storm and rain god. Hadad was often simply called Ba‘al (Lord). The bull was the symbolic animal of Hadad. He appeared as a bearded deity often shown as holding a club and thunderbolt while wearing bull horned headdress as in the image below. The name Hadadezer mentioned in our perek means "Hadad will help".
