Uriah was killed in Rabbah when he got too close to the wall. Yoav expressed concern that Dovid might be angry about letting soldiers get so close to the wall. The walls around Jerusalem serve as a useful reminder as why getting too close to the wall was so dangerous.

Notice the slits in the wall which allow archers or gunners to shoot from behind while being protected from the enemy outside.
